In my previous post, I wrote about the first thing you need to do if you want to Parent with Calm and that’s elevating your Consciousness.
The second thing you need to do is to operate from a place of Authenticity. By this, I mean embracing the original you. I always tell most Parents that God sent your child to the original you that He created but over the course of your life, you’ve had various experiences from your childhood, maybe you’ve experienced trauma or people have dealt with you in any aspect of life so all of these experiences have made you become a slightly different person.
For instance, let’s say the original you is someone who loves to give and you experienced a person who duped you of your money. That experience will change you and make you more cautious and even become less trusting of people. This means you’ve made a shift from being your authentic self to a different person based on the experience you’ve had. Hope you’re getting my point..
It’s in our authentic state that we are supposed to parent our children but through our life experiences, we’ve slightly become a different person with lots of masks. All of these affects our parenting style, parenting personality and also informs our reactivity.
So, if you want to parent with calm, you need to peel of those masks and heal from all those experiences that have taken away your original self. You need to heal from your trauma, childhood experiences, conditioning etc and start embracing the real you. This will help you understand and appreciate yourself and in turn you’ll become less judging of your child, appreciate them and you’ll start to operate from a place of authenticity.
